About

Who We Are

The Fiddlehead Foundation is a non-profit organization focused on building dynamic biotechnology ecosystems through education and hands-on training. Out initial efforts are in the greater NYC area.

The goal of the classroom education initiative is to provide to the NYC hub, a skilled workforce that understands the aspects of biotech entrepreneurship; including how to manage life sciences technology and product development, how to access seed and downstream funding and how to build an intellectual property strategy and business strategy. The Fiddlehead Foundation has developed a set of propriety course modules that can be offered to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows and delivered in a didactic setting. A secondary goal of the education initiative is to provide alternative career paths and professional training in technology development enabling a more robust clinical pipeline in biopharma and ultimately a higher patient benefit.  The Foundation aims to assist these highly trained individuals in the transition from an academic research to career paths along the technology development route in support of the NYC life sciences ecosystem.

The Foundational Fellowship program is a fully sponsored one-year program that provides hand-on training and professional development in the field of life science innovation, project and technology management, intellectual property, business development, company formation and financing across all areas of biopharma. A key part of this Fellowship is the opportunity to be trained in your future career environment. Additionally, Fellows will be partnered with EIR-mentors that can provide technical and career guidance throughout the fellowship period. The goal of the Foundation Fellowship program is to support the successful career transition of life science graduate students and postdoctoral fellows into the NYC biopharma ecosystem.

The Translational Mentorship Program is a pioneering program developed by the Fiddlehead Foundation and is conducted with the support of our Entrepreneurs-in-Residence (EIRs). EIRs are biopharma NYC community members who bring decades of development, management, entrepreneurial, and financing experience. The goal of the translational mentorship program is to support academic faculty and their institution by providing industry-standard technical guidance and mentorship as well as non-dilutive funding in the form of a grant to support translation of academic life science innovation into clinical application.
